About

VISION
Grassroots action for maximum impact, community by community.

MISSION
Inspire collaborative efforts to decrease the homeless pet population.

emily natalie 23 AboutWe started with a wish.

A wish for a better future for homeless animals – better than one being euthanized every 4 seconds in a shelter. Better than 45 kittens and 15 puppies born for every human birth. Better than thousands upon thousands of kittens being born outside to feral mothers, destined to fall victim to wild animals, vehicles or disease.

Our wish is for a future where every homeless pet will be treated with respect, and be cared for, living in a safe environment.

Because when kindness and respect guide our actions toward every other living being, the world is a better place for everyone.

Guided by the model of Best Friends Animal Society, we’re working toward no more homeless pets – starting with Wisconsin.

WISH was founded in May, 2011 by Emily Anderson and Natalie Nelson, both of whom have volunteered in animal welfare for many years. Emily volunteered extensively with local animal rescues, and went on to found two no-kill rescues in the Fox Valley area. Natalie has also volunteered with various animal welfare organizations and served as the Director of a local animal shelter and was also a founder of a no-kill animal rescue.

Using their combined experience, they hope to reach out to animal welfare groups across the Midwest to help them strengthen their organizations, increase adoptions, garner volunteer and community support, and do their part to reduce the homeless pet overpopulation epidemic. Consulting services are offered at no charge.

We will also be implementing Trap-Neuter-Release programs to help prevent unwanted babies from being born into a world where there are not enough homes for them.

WISH is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and operates as a 100% volunteer-run, no-kill, foster-home-based animal welfare organization that is based in the Fox Cities. We receive no federal or local funding; we rely completely on donations to fund our consulting efforts, trips to shelters and rescues, TNR program and care for the homeless kittens and special needs cats in our foster homes.
